Refitting fuel pump.

Right, just fitted a new fuel pump, along with everything else
fuel related, and the fuel line at the "wires end" of the fuel pump
is Pi**ing out,   , the bit that slides over the end of the fuel pump.

When I took the old one off, there was only 2 copper washers that
sat either side of the pipe (it didnt leak then)

Has anyone used some sort of liquid gasket, or should I
have replaced the copper washers?, or used something else.

Thanks in advance

Marc

More than likely the copper washers need replacing. If overtightened they get crushed and have no more give in them. Also check the surfaces were the washers fit are reasonably smooth to help provide a good seal.

I think i read somewere you have to replace these washers everytime because they crush to form a good seal.

Yes, I think the haynes says that. I have reused some a couple of times no problems, but they do start to loose their flex after a bit - particularly if overtighened.

Youre a Gent , cheers, should have replaced them in the first
place I suppose   , Just in a rush to get it all back together!.

I suppose It wont hurt to put a bit of sealer on it as long
as its petrol proof.

Hi mate

Think mine were 12mm? or 1/2",  I didnt use copper ones as
I got some off an engineer at work, they were brass with a
rubber insert (there is a technical name for them but not sure what!)
They worked a treat, and are used in hydraulic things).

Sorry, cant be more help, (off work today) and the car in being
prepped for an MOT, so cant check size.

Good luck anyway
