Ran out of petrol, doh.

Anyone know why you would get a light grey puff of smoke from the fuel distributer when you run out of petrol?

Anyone tell me why I am so stupid as to run out of petrol in the first place?

After having run out of fuel on an autobahn many years ago I have learnt the following:

Lesson 1.
NEVER trust a fuel gauge !!

Lesson 2.
Always keep the tank topped up - doesn't seem so bad putting ?10 worth of fuel in, rather than leaving it and putting ?40 in (just don't look at the receipts at the end of the month).

Owning a Mk1 cabby is a vertical learning curve…

Wowzers! Fuel must be expensive 'round your way.  8O

I can only get about ?27 in my mk1 and that's going all the way up the filler neck!

Unless you've found a garage that provides 150RON??

Cheers,

Its just about possible if you have a cabriolet as they have larger tanks… 55 litres instead of 40!
