and how often should u change the oil?

I change my oil every 4000 miles and the fuel filter every other oil change  it might be overkill but it wont harm it :wink:

The manual says oil every 5000 miles or 6 months; fuel filter every 20000 miles or 2 years. Of course, the Golf I doesn't have a variable service interval indicator. I think the figures given are conservative ones, seeing at variable service interval indicators are often able to extend intervals, etc.

yea i would agree 4 thousand . oil & filter change i also every second year i put a flush in as well .{ sad as i sound } i have had my golfs for 8 years . and they still sound sweet      

Well, for me, it will probably be an oil change every 1000 miles and a fuel filter every 4000, because I only expect mine will do around 2000/year. I'm going to stick to the time intervals in the schedule….

just changed my fuel filter after about a year and a half of daily driving and it made soooooo much difference to the performance.

plenty of crap came out when i tipped the old one out!

strange that an engine would thrive on a constant supply of petrol!

i'll probably be changing the oil more often now too.
