Quick help needed before it gets dark!!

right managed to get my 83 gti 1.8 to start - ish - very lumpy and ran for about 30secs with full throttle then died - the meter head is off a 1.6 - do i need to richen the fuel up loads to get it running sort of ok??

just come inside for a cuppa while starter motor cools down - havent been able to get it started again since it spluttered back to life breifly.

Please help me before it gets dark - was hoping to get it MOT'd this weekend after being off road for 10 year!!

Try lean it out. Either way, you're stuffed - you'll need to measure the mixture properly, to have any idea of it passing/failing the MoT. If you get it running, they might be happy for you/them to 'tweak' it during the test.
