Petrol

This has probably been posted a few times so I appologise, but when looking through a handbook for the cab I noticed it said 98 RON fuel for a GTI, is this what I should be using??? I thought older cars especially german bulit would use SUL?

RON = octane rating. All VWs since around 1970 can use unleaded, so no worries there. For a GTI, I use Shell Optimax which is 99 RON, since I'm seeking every last bhp. A lot of the "super" unleaded petrol is 97 RON. You can use 95 RON (regular unleaded) and drive moderately, with no damage to the car.

I'm a tight fisted old sod so I use 95 RON with no problems. I'll give her 98 when I'm feeling flush though.
