Petrol cap back pressure.

When taking off the petrol cap to fill up with petrol, i get alot of pressure gush out. Is this dangerous, can it be fixed?

This debate did the rounds a while ago. Mine does the same, others claimed that?s its wrong and should have a vacuum?

check your breather under the car isn't keeked up with crud.

tank obviously isn't breathing

Tank by design should retain some residual pressure …… It helps the the pump and general running see

The fuel tank is the obvious place to start in any fuel system explanation - unlike the tanks on early carburetor fuelled engines it is a sealed unit. This allows the natural gassing of the fuel to aid delivery to the pump by slightly pressurising the tank It may be noted that when the filler cap is removed, pressure is heard to escape. Filler caps are no longer vented as previously found.
