Non starter

Hey ,ive got a '03 life with some fueling problems .it is crankin when i try to start it but doesn't want to fire .ive checked timing and spark but still nothing! When i switch the ignition on i should be able to hear the fuel pump for a few seconds but it is completely dead..Ive checked my fuses but they all are okay ,i even had a new pump on but its doing the same thing. Can sumone please please help me! :cry:

what engine have you got there?

Its a 1600 engine

Obvious thing would be to check the fuse (its the one on top of a relay, which is the fuel pump relay). If its not this, then bypass the fuel pump relay (fit a wire and switch in between the 2 big terminals) and listen out for the pump.

Ive checked evrything even changed the ECU but nothing! When i try to run a wire straight from the positive of the batry onto the live of the pump i can hear it and my engine runs but bypassing the relay doesnt seem to work

The Mk1 Golf doesn't have an ECU….

Im from south africa dude and here our mk1's do have ECU's
