new fuel tank idea.....

my fuel tank is now far to rusty to fix and need a new1 but i want something different, my friends suggegsted that i buy a chrome boat aluminium tank to go in the rear of my car where the rear seats are meant to go.

One thing i need to kno and that is, is it legal and am i mad?

i just wanted a chrome rollcage a a shinny fuel tank behind my seats.

i would also have to open the boot to fill it up too.

Whats wrong with repacing the tank as per factory? I'm sure your aware of the cost of research and development prior to mass production.

Idont know the legalities but silly idea, think of the consequences if the worst should happen. Ever seen a car fire when the fuels burning? also a lot of weight to be lifting up. weight should be kept low.

this is cheap!! considering no one makes them like this and it would cost u a hell of alot more to get this made up.

it is legal aslong long as all the pipes are secure and mounted so they dont chaff agaisnt anything..
only downside is you may have to fill up more as it wont hold as much as a standerd tank

its a normal mod for racers as you fit a smaller foam filled tank. but for normal use i wouldnt really bother.

I would look at fitting a tank in the stock place tbh as it keeps the wieght low, this is why in my track car I am yet to take the tank out.
