New downpipe
My downpipe needs doing. Was going to buy Ernst one from GSF (bout ?38 from memory) but thought will be a real pain in the arse to fit lying under the car on my gravel drive!
Checked with local National Tyre 7 Exhaust place and they quoted about ?90 fitted 8O Seems pricey to me - anyone got a comparison from elsewhere they can recommend?

I wouldn't let any of the exhaust/tyre firms loose on mine. If you are thinking of spending ?90 I would check on the price of a genuine one and resign yourself to a couple of hours under the car. The heat shields can be a problem and you can't get them from VW anymore, mine literally fell to pieces so I did away with the front one and made a new one to protect the bellows on the steering joint. Cheers.

Hairy, I fitted an earnest downpipe from GSF which is very high quality. The problem I had was two studs snapped off but I managed to get them out with a pair of mole grips. Took me all day on my back and looking back I would go to exhaust garage, the reason being is they have the studs, ramps and tools.

Get the downpipe from GSF or VW and pull one of the exhaust workmen to one side and ask him if he will do it as a foreigner, chances are he will say yes and advise
