mk1 cabby petrol tanks, difference by age?????

hi guys and girls!!
i was going to takemy petrol tank from  thedonor car today and stonechip it and fit it into the new shellwhen i realised that its mounted diferently! the donor car is a 1980 (w reg) and the project is a 1986 (d reg) i know the donor is an injection model and the shell was a carb model but im sure they made an injection model on a d reg right??? well im looking for a tank for a 1986 injection model if anyone has one. please help!!

Yep, the older ones are the same as the hatchback. I think it was around 1985-86 they changed over. Specifically, up to chassis number 15-E-011290 (2 different fuel tanks available, for carb and injection). Then afterwards they went to the lift pump stuff, so it was the same later tank for both carb and injection cars.

my chassis no is WVWZZZ15ZHK016024 is that an early one or a late one paul?
