mk1 cabby keeps cutting out

i have a 1989 golf clipper it runs and idles but as soon as i drive it will cut out. I looks like there is air in the system. Does anyone know what could cause it? or how i could get rid of the air in the system?

Gently rock the Carb and if that stalls the engine speed, faulty rubber gasket under the carb, they can expand when warm and any splits allow air in.

What Carb have you got in?
