Mercedes Injectors

Anyone used these for their Mk1. I have a 1.6gti K jet and have found some bosch injectors, but am unsure if they will fit. Something to do with the thread.

Part numbers would be good if anyone has them.

Or shall I stop being tight and get some from Crazquiff??? :dontknow:

I'd try Rich - his price seems very keen for the injectors!

According to that, Mercedes injectors are the same part number (15200) as the Golf GTI ones. The only other injector there, is the 15202, which is used on the Passat 2l 16V (9A) and others. All other injectors are electrical, its just those two which are the mechanical ones. There's other applications, like Volvo 240. I'd say 'their' 15200 injector is a high flow version, which can be fitted to lower models with an adjustment of the mixture. So if you found Merc injectors (from a KE-jet model), they would probably fit.

…got this from somewhere ages ago….

GSF no. M18710

From a 2.3 190E as I remember. They won't wash the bores.
Some debate about whether any power increase is due to just having "new" injectors, as opposed to a superior spray pattern or anything.
They're brass though, so they won't rust like the VW ones do.
ECP no. 431 22 0070, ?21 +VaT…..

You don't get power increase just from putting more fuel into the car, though. You get it by putting more air into the engine, then matching the air-fuel mixture (ie more fuel, in proportion to the air). So, higher flowrate injectors are only really needed for very high power gains.

you will however get more power if the fuel is delivered more effectively.

i would personally be surprised if the merc jeccers gave more power over the vw ones. as suggested, it's probably more a case of new injectors and not superior ones.

Define 'effectively'. Do you mean its a different spray pattern, or a higher flowrate, or a higher quantity of fuel?

all. pressure and flow rates are pretty much sorted from factory imo. spray patterns would have more of an effect, i would have thought. though differing spray patterns tend to have an affect on powerbands. that is, one pattern would give better lowdown performance and another better upper end.
personnaly i can't see the mercedes injectors giving that much better performance, if any. i can see that, fitting new injectors, mercedes or vw, would. assuming the old ones are not as 'effective' as they used to/should be.

i am open to be convinced otherwise though.

Its mainly due to the fact they are cheaper.

My car is starting a bit poorly and think I am going to change the injectors and warm up regulator to see if it helps.

It also stutters a bit when going along at part throttle.

This might help hopefully :dontknow:

to be fair, at that price, i'd be inclined to try them myself.

Surely the car would only be getting the same amount of fuel as with normal injectors. It is all coming from the metering head so that really governs how much goes in?

Think I will try them and see what happens :dontknow:

Just got these on Ebay!!!

Bargain….hope they fit

The number seem to tally up so there is no reason why they shouldnt fit. There are a few sets left. Its a bargain really. 4 for the price of 1!!!

Paranoi set in and I checked through the injector list again. If you scroill down to the very bottom where there are pics of the injectors then Fig 1 shows the injector and above it they are all listed as using that part so it could well be happy days for me!

The only thing you may have to change are the pipes from the metering head to the injectors…the thread at the injectors is the difference….I was lucky and had a 'spare' set.
If your old injectors have the 'top hat' you should be able to prise them off and fit the on the new ones…

I am going to get a 'refurb' kit with new top hats and washers / seals and spacers to make sure it all runs hunky dorey after.

I have heard about the threads so may well need a trip to a scrappy if there is a problem.

For that money though it was worth the risk.
