how to richen and set the mixture - need to know asap

I was hoping to ahve time before the MOT to get my haynes manual and set the engine up properly but i have got a MOT slot on thurs and I will need to set the mixture up tonight, The engines only 600miles or so old since the rebuild and the idle was set at just over 1000rpm, since i have lowered this by winding out the stop on the top of the throttle the idle has dropped to just over 900rpm, but the car is now a pita to start and requires throttle top get it going, aftera  few blips it will settle down nicely.

I have a CO2 machine so thats not a prob but hows best to go about doing this, i assume with a hot engine, what co levels should i be looking for and how do i adjust the mixture

i believe its done by tweeking the recess screw on the airbox using a longreach allen key. much less than a quater of a turn each time, till its right.

I have now set the mixture with my little machine, after mush faffing and waiting the initial reading was about 7% CO2, so i have now leaned this out to about 3%-3.5% as i dont have a haynes manual yet to give me the proper figure, it seems to be running fine but it hasnt cured my starting problem, (see my other post for this problem)
