How to remove fuel filler neck???

As title sugegsts I need to remove the fuel filler neck so that I can get the fuel filler repair panel welded in.

How is this done??

Can I block up the fuel tank then to make it safe to get the welding done??

The filler neck screws into the bodywork in 2 places: the 3 screws near the cap, and a bolt inside the wheelarch. It has a short length of flexible pipe to the tank.

Are you sure the rust (requiring new panel?) only extends around the filler cap, or do you need a bit more in the inner (mid) wing? If its more, then you would have to drop the axle and tank. I think you'll find a little more!!!!
