help on locating gravity valve placement???????

HI  I NEED HELP ON LOCATING WHERE THE GRAVITITY VALVE GOES ON A 1981 GOLF GTI AS 1 YEAR AGO I TOOK OFF THIS PLUS ALL MY FUEL SYSTEM BUT COULDNT REMEMBER WHERE IT CAME OFF? AS THE BRACKET WAS RUSTY AND JUST FELL OFF BUT MADE A ALI BRACKET  THANKS  ANDY

Sorry mate, don't know what a gravity valve is, can you explain where you are working in the fuel system ?

hi  im sure its under the wheel arch  but ive no signs of bracket as it rusted out and cant remember which way it went with what 2 pipes???

Ah right know where you are now. Valve sits on a bracket and is part of the overflow system. The pipe from the tank goes into the lower part of the valve and the top drops to below the bottom tank level.
