Fuel Pump

It looks like im gonna need a new fuel pump, how much of a job is this/is it easy to do by a novice? If not is it an expensive job to get done?!

I needed mine replacing when I first got my car 18 months ago and didn't have a bloody clue how much it was going to cost. Turned out to be relatively inexpensive from my local garage and it was in and out in a day (once the part was in).

If you fancy doing it yourself, get a haynes mate. From what i've read it doesn't seem to be too difficult (but I don't like messing with things like this too much, that's why I left it to my mechanic!).

Good luck!

absolute doddle mate as long as there's not a full tank of petrol and your pump mounts are not too badly rotten!

you sure it's the pump and not a wiring fault/ relay etc? if you can, check your getting 12v (or as near as) to the pump when you turn the ignition

new pumps from VW are around ?87.. a relay, well.. Crazy should have some

took me around 20 minutes to replace mine
