fuel pump relay problem.

been trying to fix a probem with my cabby.

the fuel pump doesn't start when ignition is turned on. now it could be one of many problems, but the first i thought of was the relay.

when the ignition is on and i remove and replace the relay there is no click. should it be audible or could you feel it as you push the relay in and out?

hoepfully this is the culprit and i dont have to spend my weekend going through the wiring from pump to batt!!

The best thing to do first would be to bypass the relay, by removing it and bridging the 2 large terminals with a wire + switch. If the fuel pump then works (and the car starts/runs) but doesn't with the relay in place, its most likely the relay. Note also that there's a 5th connection to the relay, this is a trigger pulse from the coil (same signal as to the tacho) and is a safety feature which shuts off the fuel pump in the event of an accident and the engine stopping.

Bypass the relay, just to test it out, not permanently!!!
