fuel pressure and return pipe
been waiting to check the fuel pressure on the mk1 as she seems to have a little trouble fueling properly. she'll run lovely and smooth if i richen the mixture up, but she's flat at the top end then. if i lean her off for peformance she's a little rough and hesitant the bang off she goes. also having troubl with cold starting. same again, i can cure it by richening the mixture. timings all good. it seemed like fuel pressure to me.
then this afternoon while topping up the water, i noticed the fuel return pipe on the metering head was kinked near the banjo end. i straightened the kink out a bit and fired her up. no problems at all. drives soooo much better and the cold start was just fine. well see how fine in the morning mind.
would a restricted flow on the fuel return pipe cause pressure problems in the metering head? i'm assuming so.

Would have thought so, doesn't the K-jet return up to 90% of the fuel (pump fuels at about 4 litres a minute). Any fuel leaking, maybe in airbox?
Cheers

no fuel leaking that i can tell. car is sooo much better now though. especially on cold starts. got another one to fit as i'm not a fan of kinks in fuel lines.
