Where have you tried already? And what kind of Mk1 Golf do you have? AFAIK the fuel lines are metal, but the end parts of the carb car's lines are rubber hoses which are easily obtainable from any parts shop.

its a 1.6 cabby not a gti or anything just a 1.6 with a weber carboretta. i have looked on crazy quiffs and ebay, cant think of anywhere else and i know people on here would have had to replace thiers at some point

Have you gone to a local parts shop? Its just fuel line....they should have it on a roll, and cut off however much you need by the foot (or metre these days).

o right :) i didnt realise thats how it was lol i thought it came all seperate and stuff.

i have got a local car shop down the road from me but if they dont supply it then where else could i try?

would it be a costly job? if the shop supplied the fuel lines - is there anything else i need to replace if the old ones are corroded?

Try a better shop!

Plastic doesn't corrode! Rubber perishes, but its not really corrosion.

Are you sure its plastic anyway…..they're METAL and RUBBER, which bit is perished?

Right….you're starting to make sense now. The metal ones are best replaced with something like copper (same as brake lines), and the best place for anything a non-standard size is Automec.

Brake lines themselves, and their fittings, tend to be a universal 3/16" and M10x1 connections and pretty much every parts shop sells them so its easier to go there just for bog standard brake lines.

plastic lines are std on mk2 and 3 golf, plus mk3 polo (g40 shape) just a case of will they route nicely on the mk1. trouble is there are some sharp angles on the metal pipes so copper may be the way, though i used braided rubber lines from crazyquiff on my mk1 16v.  bit overkill for a webber carb though, copper plastic or rubber will be fine ;)

I've had an advisory on my metal fuel line too.

To be honest, I was expecting it.

I've been toying on the idea of using 8mm fast fit piping, which is readily available and has all kinds of fitments for you to play with.  8)

Trying to decide what to do with mine at the moment, Braided rubber pipe or plastic lines? Where have you seen the plastic lines?
