Fuel leak
Hi all,
Went to fill my 89 cabby up today, got home and found a leak coming from the car near the rear wheel on the drivers side. Checked underneath and saw fuel dripping from where the filler neck meeting the tank.
What i need to know is how the neck is connected to the tank & is there a seal that could of gone? I was told the filler neck is only about 6 months old & was fitted just before i bought the car and does look new to me.
Any help would be very helpful!

Had another look this morning and it seems to be leaking from the top of the pipe where it connects to the tank, can you get replacement bits of pipe from anywhere or can you just use any type? Sorry im new to the MK1!

No need to apologise! Try Crazyquiff, he can help you. As a temporary measure you could use any hose but guess you run the risk longer term of it not being compatible with fuel, pending the type.

Checked the connecting pipe but it all seems fine, Tightened up the clips at each end as well but still leaking from somewhere.
Ill have to check the connections on top of the tank when i get a min.

Could be the o-ring which sits under the sender on the top of the tank although this only tends to leak when you fill the tank up.
Mine did it years back, dripped from near the fuel pump on drivers side.
It's a cheap fix if this is the problem, you can get to it from the cover plate under the back seat if you don't already know?
Cheers
