Fuel accumulator for 79 GTI

Need a replacement fuel accumulator for my 1979 GTI. The Part seems to be discontinued - but the latter VAG part: 431 133 441C (post 1980 GTI 1600cc) are readily available.

Does anyone know if these will fit the 79 GTI?

Thanks.   :)

The pipes going onto it are the same and its the same bracket. Must be a different pressure or something. I reckon it will fit ok  :?:

If VW improve a part, like the rad caps, do they make a new number for it or keep the old one?

Could it be the accumalator is just an improved one?

Pretty sure it must be the same pressure, I think all the working pressures are the same aren't they? even when you step up to the 1800 engine?

Sometimes they do but quite often parts are interchangeable even though they have different part no's. I got one from gsf for my car, they might still list one for the 1.6???
The VW one is ?128 & vat  8O

Supersessions use a different PN. Chassis range differences carry suffix A, B, C, etc which are not interchangeable. It may not be apparent what the differences are.

I have worked for VW for over 12 years, i know supersessions have different part no's.. But in my experience, even though some parts have different no's they still fit other models

I read somewhere (years ago, can't remember where) that the supercessions (sp?) have an extra letter at the end, eg: 171 123 456, and then 171 123 456A, 171 123 456B, etc…

If the supercessions have different part numbers, what do these suffix letters signify?

No that's not always the case, supersessions often have completely different part no's e.g. 7M0422818B is superceded by 7M3422818. The letter prefix's don't mean anything

The suffix letters signify different variants of a part. This can be colour, ratings, etc or parts that apply to a specific chassis range. Quite often these parts can be swapped as they physically fit on the vehicle but they are not released for it.

The 79 car was given a recent overhaul, needed a few things replacing like the cambelt, sump pan gasket, tune-up etc. Fuel accumulator also needed replacing. This car drives really well.

Also been driving the 83 Campaign.  Still a lot of fun, but the 79 seems easier to drive. Don't know why. Could be the different wheel sizes.

Driving the 83 Campaign brings back a lot of memories.
