Floor pan getting VERY hot from Exhaust

is it common for the floor pan (mainly by the seat runners/hand brake) to get VERY hot from the exhaust?  :dontknow:

Heat shield? What heat shield… :roll:

I'm pretty positive I don't have one. Would a "driver" have had one fitted as standard or was it just the Gti's?

there's a heat shield by the fuel tank, rubber gear linkage boot, gear linkage support bracket/mount thingy and the obvious at the front.. just seems the rest of the area is a bit exposed  :dontknow:

wrap it if its a worry - but shouldn't do any harm… ok if your carpet's smoking wrap it :lol:

phil is the centre bit of exhaust lined up m8? turning it left to right will move it to and from body, are all the rubbers on your exhaust etc? the only important heatshield is one on tank,

just timk of it as under floor heatin!!!!!!

costs a bomb in houses!!!!! so you should think yourself lucky.

think the exhaust mounts are knackered as it's sitting a little to one side

are there any alternatives to the metal heat sheild? as mine rattles against the exhaust all the time and theres nowt i can do about it, its driving me mad :banghead:

if the exhaust is rattling against the heatshield I suspect it's not in the right position (exhaust and/or heatshield).. have you tried bending the shield away?

yep bent it, pulled it, hammerd…still rattles…i just turn the music up so i cant hear it… :lol:

yep exhaust it tight as, doesnt move about alot and is std(i think) where it meats the heat sheild.

Can i just rip it off and cover the rubber with some sort of heatcover thingamajig :lol:

I use exhaust heat wrap on one of mine where it meets the rubber boot. Seems to work fine.
