Extra insurance against crud getting into your fuel system

Thought this might be of interest to anyone doing work on their fuel system, or worried about crud from corroding filler neck, tank gunge or corroded pipes getting into the metering head or the other expensive parts of the fuel system.

I recently bought some new fuel pipes (just the engine bay ones) and associated Banjo bolts and washers to replace some original bits that were looking a bit tired.

Anyway, whilst not cheap (a few quid each), it seems the current VW replacement banjo bolts (most of them anyway) have small fine plastic / metal mesh filter inserts in them.

I noticed that none of the bolts I replaced had this filter. Seems like a good idea, especially if you are replacing the banjo bolts on the inlet to the fuel filter, the metering head and the warm up pressure regulator.

I noticed when I dismantled my old warm up reg it had some crud in there, and I am sure that these bolts will help to trap anything that gets past the fuel filter.

Just thought I'd mention it as its not expensive and metering / warm up regs are  8O

Cheers,

Chris
