downpipe to short for my 2litre conversion, any suggestions

got a 2e bottom end out of a 2litre passat with the 1800 mk2 carb'd head on top,
put my exhaust manifold on, then went to bolt my mk2 downpipe on to the mk2 exhaust manifold, and…. the down pipes to short to fit the manifold it fouls on the underneth of the car, it has got to be a couple of inched to short, any suggestions? can i go and get one of another car that will fit?? or do i have to make one up cut and welding job?

The now out of business TSR used to sell an adaptor plate with extended bolts to over come this . I would ring round the various VW tuning companies for one or you will have to have an exhaust made .

If you have welding skills, then it would be not-too-tricky to make an adapter, or cut & extend your existing downpipe.

im not that bad at welding so if all fails ill have ago my self, any body know how much ill have to extend it by?
