Diffrence Between 1.1 and Gti Fuel Tanks.

Hi everyone I'm looking to replace my 1.1 engine with a ABF and need a GTi mk1 golf fuel tank, however I remember having my petrol tank replaced a year ago but never asked the guy which he was putting in.

Can someone outline what the basic diffrence is between the two petrol tanks? Secondally can a 1.1 tank be used with a Gti puel pump or would it not fit/possible?

The GTI tank has 2 extra pipe connections, one for the outlet to fuel pump and another which is a fuel return line.

I think (not sure) you can use a cabby lift pump, which will fit the same hole as your fuel gauge sender is already in, and this will save you needing to swap the fuel tank over. You'll still need the GTI pump, to 'boost' the pressure of the fuel.
