Cheap source of alu crush type washers anyone?

Anyone know of a cheap source ogf the crush type washers used to seal the fuel line unions on the K-Jet system. As always VW seem to charge a stupendous amount for these and I am faced with undoing and retightening a few fuel hose connections over the next few days to diagnose my problem.

I have heard if you use copper crush washers its possible to reuse them if you anneal them first. So heat them up with a blow torch on a brick until they glow and then let them cool. The theory is this softens them up again allowing them to be re-used. Anyone tried this?

I bet I can buy the correct sized alu washes somewhere by the hundred for the price the mainstealer is charging for 4 of the specially handcrafted VAG ones  :roll:

What does everyone else use, or do you just re-use the old ones (unwise I would have thought given the potential hazrad), or pony up for the VAG prices?
