Cannot remove injectors!!!! Help!
I have a 1983 GTI, after renewing the rest of the fuel system i have arrived at the injectors, but cannot get the f@#k@#g!! things out! As you can see i am at my wits end. Tried to pull them out, no joy. Tried to lever them out with various instruments……………..no joy. Bought "special" CIS injector removal tool…………………..absolutely useless….in fact it snapped!!! What next? Has anyone got any ideas before i smash it to bits….just kidding….but seriously if anyone can help i would appreciate it. Or is it a case of taking the head off?

Hi Thoyland, im just about at my wits end! Just don't really want to take the head off if i can help it. There must be another way!? Have been on this problem for a good few weeks now, ive been leaving it a day or so between attempts so as not to go entirely insane and in the mean time i have been soaking them in wd40/oil to help them out, but will not budge!

Not tried warm but the bar stewards wouldn't come out even with the head off. They stuck firmly in place!!
Will try once the cars warm, watch the post for the burnt fingers!!!!

I had this problem (see this thread ) there is a tool you can buy that makes removing them easy. I ended up making my own out of a fence bracket….

removing injectors
I posted a reply on an earlier thread - you can buy an injector puller from the USA - I put a hyperlink on the thread to take you directly to the site to order one. I couldn't find anywhere in the UK who stock them. The puller works wonders! Just use a long screwdriver as a lever and out they pop!!

yea just had this issue myself.. but the engine was out of the car , pull them hard with some kind of pipe grips , while somone lightly taps them with a screwdriver and hamer from just below where you are pulling ..
one of mine was so stuck i was literally pulling the engine off the ground trying to remove it , but all it needed was a light tap whilst under tension..
the problem is they have chunky o ring seals , and after a long time in there the rubber perishes and goes rock solid , so you literaly have no room for them to compress and come out .
good luck

when you do get them out you will need to replace the O ring seals. you can get them from gfs about 50p each , or vw main stealers about ?2 each....
