Both the WURs you mentioned can be adjusted to correct pressures for the DX engine with a little care and practice.
The Audi (I think the 16V) one has a vacuum take off pipe which acts as a fuel enrichment device. It works by the fact that when you stick your foot down the plenum chamber experiences -ve pressure, hence the vacuum to the WUR drops, which causes the control pressure in the WUR to reduce which allows the metering head plunger to move a greater distance for the amount of air that the engine is drawing, hence a richer mixture. The vacuum soon returns to the correct level and therefore so does the fuel/air ratio controlled by the WUR control pressure.
