The min you can get away with is +12v, earth, aerial and speaker/s.

Eventually depending how much time and effort you want to spend you will need; constant +12v, switched +12v, light dimming, power aerial feed, aerial amp etc etc

Use something like this to decide which wires to tap into;

use decent connectors (ie solder) and when I did the Cabrio I wired everything up to a modern ISO connector so that I can plug and play most radios from the last 20 years. Some of the speaker wires were different colours than those listed.

Note also that VW didn't stick to the ISO standard for the feed for the aerial and black wires are +ve not -ve like wot they were when you did physics are school!

All pretty straight forward if you are methodical and disconnect the battery before you start messing. Also a cheap ?10 multimeter is very helpful.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.
