why would my speedo suddendly stop working?

rest of the clocks working ok, but speedo and odometer stopped.

feels like the cable is in the back of the unit ok, but need to get it out to check - any other thoughts?

cable has probibly snapped somewhere along its length. remove it and check

yep, mine had snapped in the past, water had  got into it causing rust..  and then the break..  

Quite an easy replacement.  I managed it and I no nowt about cars
