I also removed the motor and took it apart - i know a good rewind company so gave it to them and will have some answers as to why it is so slow….
will keep yall posted.
rewind may be the answer but could be someting silly like a connection or the brushes or other parts that i can't remember the name of…

Not much to a motor.
Armature, Brushes, Winds , magnets…
I don't know if a re-wind would help, with more modern wire maybe?
New brushes on cleaned up contacts should help a bit though. Modern motors are probably up to a lot more than the old design in the Mk1.
Agree about the spindles - mine were dry as a bone with lots of nasty corrosion binding them up!

it is 100% - no faults - guy gave the armature a clean up and it looks fine…
obviously just an inadequate motor from vw! hence the upgrade in mk2 format….

ahh well - wont be out in to much wet weather so not really an issue… - just thought i would see if the wire winding or any other part was prone to wear and ultimately slowing the motor off….
