where to get ceramic fuses and relays
Hi I have an 81 gti - I have just got myself a new fuse box
does anyone know where I can get fuses for this? I think they are called ceramic fuses - they are plastic cyclinders with a strip of metal on them
also does anyone know where I can get a set of relays from?
thanks
Matt

I presume that you don't have the original fuses and relays because you're asking about new ones but, out of curiosity, what happened to the old ones, and the old fuse box?
You should be able to get new fuses and relays in a motor factors or Halfords, but they will be relatively expensive, as they are only expecting you to buy one or two as spares.
A better bet would be to go to a breakers yard and strip the ones you need out of any pre-'82 VW (doesn't have to be a Golf, or even a GTI [except for the fuel pump relay]). Note that many of the relays from VWs with the later (blade-type) fuses will be fine in your earlier fuseboard.
Do you know which relays you need, and what they look like - you won't get far at the motor factors or breakers if not… (Haynes should have details)
