What are these wires for ?
been tidying up my engine wiring and have come across two wires which i am not sure about, at the moment they are not connected to anything, i found then above the g box close to engine coming out of a black colour loom
Any help greatly appreciated? tryed haynes but left me :?
My cars a 1983 1.8 GTi
- brown with white stripe
- yellow

do they look original? could they be onbes that were add'd for vdo gauges, bnut then the vdo gauges were removed? temp sender? oil pressure?
i always have the last laugh

they do look pretty original as they come out of the loom

Those wires are the ones under the header tank with a plastic cover the same as the indicators connection .
I have searched high and low
and can't find out what they are for for .
The colour code should give some clues but does not , so its open again as to what they do .
Automatic gear box perhaps :dontknow:

Could be the wiring plug which attaches to the round blown plastic sensor. The sensor has an adjustment screw in the middle and is spliced into the vaccum hose just over the distributor.

Hi.
Dont know if it helps but i found a brown and white striped cable detached in my engine bay and that turned out to be an earth. This was then fastened to the rocker cover with the earth from the coil.

A great help actually as I also have a earth ring on my rocker cover with nothing attached to it,
the yellow wire I was struggling with am pretty sure goes to the oil pressure switch at the side of the engine.
