vdo gauges on ebay

hi was looking on ebay at some AUDI vdo gauges which happened to come with the wiring and a relay!

does anybody know what the relay is for?

as ive started to wire in my vdo gauges (old vw ones not audi) and i havent got or wired in a relay

Relay might have been Audi fit only  :dontknow: Basic guage wiring would not require it .

cheers mate, it does seem a bit weird to have a relay in it!!! also why on the subject, wired the light side of things in the other day and tested it to my suprise the back lights came on white not green like the main instrument cluster, is there any way of getting them to glow green?
