upgrading from old fuses
I've read about this before but cant find it sorry to ask again 
ops:
I bought a dash and clocks from this guy out of a V reg gti to put in my 79 gti he also sold me a dash wiring loom and fuse box but its not the old type fuse box I called him and he said this had come out of the V reg car and was a common upgrade and easy swap
is this true i'm sure I read it was a bitch to do?

It can be done if you are prepared to sit down with the wiring diagrams and butcher the harness. Think I have an early harness and fusebox if you need them.

It's a days job to swap the entire loom to a 1983> loom … That would be the best bet.
