temperature gauge off the scale????

hi, i need some help, everytime i start the car the temperature gauge goes crazy, the light flashes and the needle goes all the way up, then bak down  :dontknow: . the car doesnt seem to have anything wrong with it, so i dont know if its just a lose wire or something. could anyone please help

Sounds like it could be either the wires to the sensor on top of the expansion tank or the sensor itself.

Somewhere to start.

I'm having a similar problem. I'm going to try and change the sensor tonight, if it doesn't decide to rain. Have you sorted it yet? If not I'll let you know how I get on.
