Temp Guage Position & Fan Switch Question

Hi people, I'v had a temperature gauge fitted to my series 1 golf 1.1 however I can seem to find a good position for it. I dont want to cut a hole inmy dash and I dont have the middle center console which later mk1's had to house the gauges. Any ideas on where to put it and stil keep that retro looking dash. Its 52mm.

Secondaly Iv noticed that my cars temp is normally at 100 when driving for good 30mins or so. The fan kicks in for a short while few good seconds then goes off and then kicks back in. But doesnt decrease the temp. Can some one point out if the temp is to high. Also If i wanted to run a manual switch to the inside of the to activate the fan where would I get my live feed from and earth (i'm guessin the fan itself)?:dontknow:

Regards
Jassi

Hi dont really want to put a centre console in lol, do you mean you ran the live and earth from the battery to the fan itself?  :dontknow:

i ran the live from the battery into the cabin to a switch ,then from the switch back to the fan.

then ran an earth from the fan to the negative on the battery.
