probly wrong section but hay ho,
how do i remove this item i dont wat to go all ye ha at and brake it, i've undoe the allen key bolt and the whole thing dont seem any looser at all, at the time i did not have keys with me to see if i simply undone steering lock it would slide off, guessing that would be to obvious so before i go and take another look at it thought be best to ask you guys

look at the column spline, you should see a circlip which is holding a spring in place. remove the circlip and spring then the lock housing should come off.
i think it will come off even if steering lock is engaged, but brig your key just in case

steering lock removal
It may be desirable to remove the lock if a keyless ignition system is being adapted (as in my case) or in racing applications where accidental key removal is possible and lock the wheels can be particularly dangerous.
