Sreaming Starter Motor!
The sportline's starter really shreeks! Does anyone know what the cause could be and whether it can be fixed without replacing it.

Could be worn spindles??
It`s probably easiest to just put a new starter motor on, than to have it repaired. As long as your current one still starts the car i`d still use it till it goes pop.

Yeah it starts the car fine but its just embarasing!
I know is would be easiest to just replace it but if there is something that might just need cleaning/adjusting or something then it saves me alot. Think they are about ?80 new!

Could be worth seeing if you can get into it easily and greasing up the moving bits, as I expect the bearing surfaces in the motor are probably dry if it's making a real racket. I've done this on a car I has a simelar problem with, and it quietens it down temporarily until the grease wears off.

If it's high pitched I would suspect dry/failing bearings, has the car not been used much?

When I picked it up it hadn't been run for about 1 1/2 months! Started first time though no problems. The seller was amaized! Maybe a regrease will sort it out a bit.

, I'll just have to strip it and see what I find.
