ill be more precise

was off a 5 cyl audi

cant use a multimeter but set it to ohms or somethin read 145, my old one 109

as soon as i wired her up my engine got alot quieter, also gettin less back popping as i drop from high revs in 2nd/3rd, maybe less unused fuel??

plugs are good ht leads good as is dizzy and rotor (as always  )

so why ??

ok you got me

i dont know

theres a good way of getting a huge spark tho

1x electrical screwdriver
1x household fuse box
1x wooders

left for ten minutes to play = one mahussive spark half a screwdriver and no wooders

did that awnser your question

the spark is all to do with dwell and discharge

so if the coil cause a the dwell to increase then yes it will have a bigger spark but it will also burn out the plus and leads quicker

discharge time is how quickly the spark comes and goes

back on the subject

if the audi coil extended the discharge time, which i suspect, would that allow room for some timing play?

yes the dwell and discharge time should effect the timing in theory i believe

guess theres only one way to find out get a timing light out and seewhat the timing does with the standard and then the audi
