Smoke but no fire, headlights
Driving work this morning it was getting a bit foggy so I put me side lights on.
I switched me sidelights off when smoke started billowing owta t' dash, wound the windows down and tried optimism.
Luckily optimism got me work but now it's back home I need to replace the wiring.
The wire in question goes from the middle of the headlight switch to the connector to the indicators (which curiously enough carried on working)
The wire connects to the lowest pin in this pic.
Can anyone have a look what it does?
I'll probably need a new connector to the indicator switch and headlight switch but that's not too much hassle.
what the problem is, is knowing what rating the wire should be.
PS that dashboard removal thread, great help. 8)

if you don't get a reply I'll have a look tonight. What is the pin number on the connector in question?

'ad a bit of luck but dead battery now, electrics were working till it went flat.
On the plus side I feel safer having rewired me car meself now.
Normally takes a good 5 months before I've taken that much of a car apart. 8)

One for the search engine.
The blue black wire from the hazard switch goes to fuse 19 for the indicators.
Had a bad connection, check connector A it's got about 20ish pins on and I think it's the blue one in the middle of the fusebox, check for continuity from the blue/black wire at the hazard switch to the contact the blue/black wire feeds on the connector, if that's fine then check from same wire on the hazard switch to the actual fuse 19.
This was my problem, so I clean up all contacts, checked they were firmly in and it worked again.

No connectors just solder and shrink wrap.
Before
Scotchlock
After
solder and shrinkwrap
