Series One Parcel Shelf

After reading through various posts on here, I'm assuming that the Series 1 and the Series 2 had different rear parcel shelves? I'm looking to put in a set of 6x4's in the back of my Series 1 but I'm having trouble trying to find some kind of mounting point.  :dontknow:

All i seem to have under the 6x4 "grill" in the back corners are 4 plastic (unthreaded) pins which I don't think I could mount anything on!?

I don't want to make any alterations to the outside to make it look obvious, but I was wondering what people, with Series1's, had done about mounting 6x4's at the back, as the one speaker in the front dashboard really doesn't do much in terms of sound quality!

Any ideas or advice is appreciated!

I assume you are talking about putting speakers under the side shelves?
6"x4" fit on those mounting pins with self threading nuts that cut into the plastic pins.

Ah, fantastic! That's what I meant, yep!

Does anyone know off the top of their heads what size nuts are needed, width wise? I guess most hardware stores would have these?

Finally I'll be able to hear music when driving!

May still be available from VW. I think the part number is N 0386011 but please check it with the dealer. Should be easy to find on Mk2 Golfs from scrapyards too.
