I have been having trouble to find a new reverse switch. I been on Vw heritage website and they have one for a 4 speed gear box but not for five speed. Abd also been on crazy qwiffs and they have one but not sure if this is the correct one because I don't think the pins are in the right positions. So just wondering if anyone has had this problem and if they bought one of crazy qwiffs and is correct… So some help would be helpful please

I split it open and just carefully cleaned the tarnishing off of the small brass pins. Put it back together and hey-presto, worked ever since

worth a try

As for getting the switch out, yes it is a pain!
I did muck about with my normal ratchet for a few hours and just could'nt get enough movement on it to turn the bolt so bought this,

cost about £15-20 (can't remember exactly). It's still a fairly slow process in removing as leverage is limited and bolts fairly long, but does get them out. Mine were also normal head shaped bolts.
