Reverse lights staying on! Pics needed possibly

No matter what gear inc neutral they are on! this has happened after i have taken off the switch, re-attached the wires that were hanging off and crimped together removing the inline connector block bit.
Its a 1.8 8v gti box and loom (for that bit).

Can anyone whip off the connector they have and take a pic of the pin confuguration on the plug, where the terminals actually go? mine could be in the wrong place.
If not what else can this be?! Not good lol.  :dontknow:

cant drive around with them on like that, if not ill just remove bulbs or something

The only thing other than the wiring I can think of would be the switch itself has given up.  What with it being the only place that the circuit can be made/broken.

Sounds like you've got the multi way gearbox switch rather than the 2-pin type.  2-pin types can fail short circuit then the lights stay on.

if you mean connector wise then yes there are 4 of them, but i think sockets for up to 8.
