Rev Counter Reads Full when standing
Hi,
Wondered if any of you could help me please, I have a 1979 1.6 Gti and the rev counter reads full (around 7500RPM) when ignition is switched on and remains there when driving. Has anyone had this problem before or could you point me in the right direction. Read a load of posts on rev counter not working but they are all relating to it getting no power and the earths being dodgy. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Wire for the feed may be on wrong side of the coil or you have permanant 12volt to it not the ignition pulse required .
Usually wired ,+12 volt ,earth, one wire to the coil .
So using Haynes wiring diagram i would trace and check just the wiring for it
