Sorry to gatecrash your topic, but I have a question which follows on.
I have a 1991 gti cabriolet which I believe, after reading the various other threads on this site, needs a new fuel pump relay. Fuel pump is beginning to be tempremental but works after the relay is taken out, cleaned and replaced.
My question is, which number relay do I need (I can't seem to find anything in the Haynes manual) and where is the best place to source them from?
Cheers

The top position which on your car is empty is where the water temp control unit goes . It looks like a relay but is not , original parts have number 43 on the top. Only know this as have just sorted problem on my temp gauge by fitting replacement unit.
