Rear brake lights

Hi guys,

My brake lights are coming on very late, they only turn on when there is full pressure applied to the pedal i.e. when fully depressed and the car is almost at rest.

I am quite wary of people running into the back of me as I travel through Leeds at rush hour and there's lots of stop-start queueing.

Can the switch be adjusted to make the lights come on when even just a small amount of pressure is applied?

Is the switch mounted down under the pedal (mechanical type) or is it a hydraulic type up at the servo?

I've not managed to have a proper look and work out what to do, but I thought I'd ask on here first.

And advice appreciated.
Cheers,
Gav

check and see if you have a pedal switch - if you do then it may need adjusted to come more into contact with the pedal - therefore allowing the switch to operate at a lighter push of the pedal - i think the little pad which contacts the pedal is threaded  - but im not 100% sure

if you have the two hydraulically operated switches then they may be at fault and would be better to replace them - not that expensive from what i remember….

It'll be a hydraulic switch fitted on the master cylinder, so no adjustment is possible…..time to get a new switch…GSF sell them.
