problems fitting stereo
hi there i just brought a 1982 mk1 golf cabriolet. previous owner says stereo never worked, (ans was old one with cassette) so brought a new stereo and been trying to fit it but cant get any power to it, any ideas??? also theres no heat coming out of the blowers so its bloody freezing just blowing cold air out, any help would be welcomed!!

when you say blowers i assume you mean the vents near the windows.
these only blow cold air. it was a safety feature
put your heater to windows and foot wells and you'll get toasty warm air.
as for power run a new line from the fusebox.

Check the fuses first off to make sure none are blown.
Use a multimetre to check and see if you can get a reading from any of the wires.
I fitted a CD player a couple of days ago, the thread should be a couple of posts down, have a look if may be of some use.

thanks for your advice, will try it all out and fingers crossed can get some sound in the car other than outside air noise through the roof lol!!
