Picture of speaker wires into front door
Hey,
Thanks to lee (leesan) for being and top bloke I now have some nice shiney door pockets to put my speakers in but the previous owner took the speakers out of the front door and all the wires so I was wondering..
Does anyone have a picture or can take a picture of the speaker wires going in to the door please so I can see what part of the body and door they go through? I have a rough idea just want to make sure I'm right Also do they go through a rubber loom or can I just put the cable straight through as I haven't got a rubber loom to put them through
Thanks in advance for you help
Adrian

I'm not sure what was available on 83 cars because originally cars came from the factory without a radio but did have door/speaker pockets :? They should probably go through a rubber sleeve though. My '88 cabby had a sleeve different to my sportline. The sportline's is much thicker and more cables can fit through but I'm not sure if its standard as the electric windows and central locking it has arent standard.
I'm sure you'll get away without protecting them at all for a fair while. My '88 cab had the loom missing on one side so I made some wires up and fed them through some heat shrink tubing (I didn't shrink it though) to give more protection.
Have a look at mine at the meet on Sunday

Halfords used to sell a rubber tube especialy for this, i have had a search on the internet but cant find it, it may be worth popping in to your local halfords to see if they still do it.
It was basicaly a flexable plastic tube with a fixed gromit on one end, that would fix to your door opening, with another loose gromit in your door, that would allow the tube to slide in and out, i fitted on to my old beetle, it worked well and looked better than having lots of nasty wires showing.

Interesting..
I'll have to check it out, I've put the cables through the doors for now they don't seem as though it's going to get trapped and I might just heat shrink it in some black tube as it's only 1 cable
Thanks for the help
