Ok here is one for everyone, Fan setting 3 not working

I have a problem with my heater switch, I have no idea when this stopped working but needless to say it has it used to work, when i turn my fan on it used to work on all three speeds (1,2 &3) but now it only works on 1 and 2 when i turn the knob to three the fan just stops. I have no idea why, i assume the fuse is ok becasue 1 & 2 work fine but cannot think why 3 doesn't work, anybody had the same problem or knows the fix???? Cheers everyone i eagerly await some help!

not had this problem but I'd guess it's the heater switch in the dash

I have exactly the same problem. I also have another car with the fan fully working. So I have the ideal opportunity to swap-test the switch, and any other components. I haven't done it yet though………fan not working on 3 is quite low down on the list of issues!!!

I had this problem too and turned out to be the resistor thingy on the fan motor itself.

First off, pos 3 didn't work, then pos. 2 after a couple of months and then pos.1 didn't either! The wires from the back of this switch got very hot too and I melted two switches - changed them thinking it was this (until after the second time!)

Got a 2nd hand heater fan/unit, swapped over and now all is ok again!

Cheers

Sounds similar to a problem we had on my partner's caravelle. When I took the fan switch apart I found that one of the prongs (for speed 3) had shifted and therefore was no longer making contact. solved it by pushing in the prong - where wire for speed 3 connects to the back of the switch - so that contact occured.
No need to take the switch apart, just push in the terminal from the back of the switch.
Am interested to know if this is the problem and if my solution works for you.

it will either be the switch or the reostat on the fan motor under the bonnet in the scuttel panal.

be carefull though as it will be hot if youve had your heating on.
